who will work to create an Aotearoa New Zealand in which Māori and Pākehā recognise each other as full Treaty partners, and in which all cultures are valued for the contributions they bring
Principles

Value - Students will be encouraged to value:

Key competencies

Official languages

- (I haven't seen this document before)
Poipoia te reo, hei reo e ora ana, e kaha ana, e haumako ana.
Secure the future of te reo Maaori as a living dynamic and rich language.
It is the students who are not willing to give it a go. They are the ones who are eager. Rich: beyond single word use. The first reaction to be te reo Maaori. E.g. 'kei te pai' instead of 'sweet as'.
Personal thoughts on helping us:
Ma te huruhuru ka rere te manu.
It is the feathers that enable the bird to fly
- Risk taking
- Confidence

- Competence: need some reo
Koorero mai!
- Radio, Maaori TV, expose yourself to the language and use it.
- Normalise te reo in your classroom (haere mai ki te whaariki)

Reflection:
Fancisnation to hear the history of te reo Maaori. This would be great to share with the students. I need to study these te reo Maaori documents. Must make time to learn the language. Toku Reo would be a good starting step. Easy and accessible. I want to build confidence and competence.
