IB PYP in my own words:
PYP is a transdisciplinary, inquiry framework that encourages partnership with the students in their learning. It helps build conceptual understanding that can be applied to different aspects of life in order to help them and us be lifelong learners.

Learners at the centre
Making them feel comfortable
Honouring all beliefs and thoughts
Think:
Good to see it is direct
Reflection: How to make it better.
Agree. Important skills you are learning.
Everyone is a learner. Also, see everyone as a teacher of something.
PYP is a tool
Wonder:
How are we supporting the curiosity of the students?

Video: Pilar 2 - Learning and teaching
Learning does stop.
Open-minded.
Teachers also are teaching.
Planning evolves year to year.
Personal inquiry time throughout the week.
Wonder:
How does personal inquiry work in the classroom? Grade 2 = multiple times a week. Set up so they know what they should be doing.
Video: Pilar 3 - The Learning Community
See:
EVERYONE.
Welcomed, safe, valued.
Parents to learn also about what students are doing.
Think:
Students believe that their teachers are learning also.
Using the surrounding area as a place to learn.
Shared leadership. Includes being a role model.
Wonder:
How effective are we at doing this as a school?
Field trips: MYP go on more than us. How can we be better at this?
Parent mentors: Having parents coming in to do work.
How can we model supportive parental learning to help them? Bring in a specialist (Stephen's recommendation). Make it obligatory.
How upbringing is entirely different to them. How can we support them?
Programme Standards and practices:
A framework to help implement the programme. Not just a checklist anymore.
Standards - what to meet Practises - how to meet
Programme Development Plan:
This is what we need to work on and develop. We will work on this together.
Suggestion: that we focus on assessment.
Multiple IB schools have dropped end-of-year reporting due to so much reporting throughout the year. We have double the amount of meetings as the normal Norwegian school but still do end-of-year reports. Discussion on whether we should scrap the end-of-year reports, and have Toddle. How could we do this well?
